Hey All,

In my previous blog  I told you a bit about my story and how my knee broke down a year back. I told you how I embarked on a journey to a better body.

But there’s an important question that I often think about and I am sure you think about it too:

What exactly is a better body?

How do we define ‘better’?

The word better is a little vague. It can mean a number of things. A better body can be a better looking body, a better performing body, or a generally healthier body.

So it’s important that we figure out what exactly we’re trying to achieve.

Here’s my take on it…

A better body is a very personal definition.

One person’s better may be another person’s best.

But that shouldn’t matter.

You never want to compare yourself to someone else. It makes no sense to. We’re all different. We all have different strengths and weaknesses. We’re all made differently.

And so the only person you should ever compare yourself to is the person you were yesterday.

So what is a better body?

Generally speaking, a better body is one that…

Stands erect, displaying excellent posture and alignment.

Moves efficiently and elegantly.

Exhibits balance of muscularity and strength through all planes of motion.

Has high energy levels, allowing the individual to pursue all their dreams and ambitions.

Is functionally strong, allowing the individual to partake in any and all activities without the worry of getting injured.

Is flexible, exhibiting great range of motion throughout its joints.

Is pain free.

Exhibits optimal gut health.

Feels vibrant and full of life.

Has a strong and efficient heart, allowing the individual to catch the bus if need be.

Is cognitively apt.

Is stress free, both in the mind and in the soft tissues.

Displays a strong connection between mind, body, and spirit.

Is aware of its surroundings.

.

.

In my eyes, a better body is one that is built to last a lifetime.

And I think it’s worth putting in the effort to make it better.

Remember that this is all a journey. A lifelong journey at that. You don’t build a better body overnight.

No way.

Building a better body is a journey that requires consistent effort.

Persistence.

Experimentation. Trial and error to see what works and what doesn’t.

It requires the ability (and will power) to make good decisions time in and time out.

To make mistakes and still keep going.

To overcome plateaus, set backs, and unexpected circumstances.

To make necessary sacrifices.

I know what you’re thinking…

This all sounds like a lot of work, but think of what the alternative is.

Nagging pain. Constant sickness due to a weak immune system. No energy to do the things you love.

To me, that’s no way to live life.

And that’s why I will keep trekking on this journey. And I want you to consider going along too..

I hope that’s opened your mind a little bit.

And wish you all the best on your quest to a better body. 🙂

Till Later

Regards

Soma
